Choosing a College

Many people when choosing a college think only about their likes and dislikes. But everything is actually not that easy. Is the college auditioning? Why do consider it to be a good one? Is it because your friends recommended this college or maybe you’ve read about it in a magazine?

Remember that you should first of all feel comfortable at college. Your decision shouldn’t be influenced only by the prestigious rank of the school.

When you’re selecting potential colleges ask yourself if they offer what you need. Think of your passion and personal goals. What size of school do you prefer? Both small and big schools have some advantages and disadvantages. Though big schools are very often overwhelming, but programs and opportunities are more numerous there. If you are looking for personal attention, smaller schools are for you, though they have fewer majors. Larger schools have endless resources.

Think of your strengths and weaknesses. You should consider all the possible factors to choose the right place to study. Some of us like to work alone, others prefer study groups. Think of what is better for you. Small discussions or large lectures? Tests or creative projects?

Pay attention to the location and environment of colleges. There are so many factors that may suit you or not. Some people like rural areas, many people feel bored there preferring big cities with all their numerous opportunities. Even the weather in the area may influence your studying. So think of your outdoor recreation needs.

We all try to make a wise decision. But situation may change hardly you enter a college. That’s why many young people change their major. Think of all the study areas that interest you.
